GFG Rail played a key role in the design of the Hitachi Tram Torino, beginning with the initial concept and advancing through the full design development in collaboration with Hitachi Engineering. The project encompassed the complete design of both the interior and exterior of the tram. A standout architectural feature is the addition of a slanted window between the side panels and the roof, enhancing visibility from inside the tram and improving the experience of observing the surrounding environment from the street. The styling development included the complete redesign of all interior elements, complemented by detailed ergonomic analyses to ensure optimal comfort and functionality. The exteriors were designed to create a new Hitachi corporate feeling, providing a modern, cutting-edge design with the Italian elegance needed for the vehicle to travel in our city. The original concept was carefully adapted to incorporate a series of carry-over parts, streamlining the industrialization process for faster production. The vehicle’s liveries were developed by GTT (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti).
