We make means of transport look good. We make means of transport work. In starting a styling research, our designers try to find the best functional solutions united to the best possible looks. We analyze the briefings supplied by the Client, understand his tastes, and all the possibile future evolutions of public mobility, because the present for us is already past. And then we put our visions and ideas on paper.
During the styling development we generally present a wide range of different proposals, narrowing down the choice with our Clients as the styling phases move on. Transforming the hedonistic, romantic, albeit feasible sketches into top-level renderings requires the most advanced softwares, but also outstanding skills. Computer graphics modeling is now essential in the design process. It is also a very powerful instrument to involve and show how the next project will appear or fit in the context. We constantly keep our technologies and experience updated to offer the best static renderings, animations and walkthroughs to achieve the optimal integration between virtual reality and scale mock-ups.
Our feasibility studies aim to objectively and rationally uncover the strengths and weaknesses of the project, opportunities and threats present in the natural environment and the resources required to carry through. They provide Our Clients with the analyses allowing their engineering teams to be sure that the product is going to comply to all their requirements, be them technical, economical, regulatory or of any other nature.
With the renderings, which are always overlapped to the mechanical package to ensure a dimensional feasibility, the styling process really begins to enter into a more detailed level. We start considering millimeters instead of centimeters, we start considering how a specific part of the vehicle inside or outside, must be shaped to ensure its production, we get into detail of how the shades will influence its appearance.
We offer our Clients the possibility of reviewing and analyzing a styling concept in virtual reality to be able to work with big scale formats in real time. A sophisticated “Virtual Reality” system allows virtual reproduction of the styling concept with a 3D master model. In a comfortable, spacious projection room equipped with a 7.5 x 2.7 metres “CAD WALL” the designer and Client can work together on the model, incorporating any modification. Special polarized glasses provide a stereoscopic view of the master with a 3D effect, allowing a detailed evaluation of the results of concept development well before the actual construction of the real model.
From ideas to reality. In our line of services, and in our logic of the design process, we consider the physical mock-up an essential step. It has always been and always will be. Even with the most sophisticated virtual reality, a real-scale physical model allows our designers and the Client to analyze what the real vehicle would look like.
Scale models are still one of the most traditional and fascinating ways to present a project. GFG Rail develops architectural models up to 1:1 scale. Any project can be modeled, be it for promotion, ergonomic evaluation or testing. This process allows a perfect reproduction of what will then be the effective output, avoiding time losses due to styling modifications in the production phase. GFG Rail’s services also make sure that its designers, engineers and architects follow the entire prototyping process of designed elements for industrial production.
The range of modeling services we offer goes from “white” proportion models in styrofoam, which we can manually modify thanks to our modelers’ craftsmanship, to epowood or resin models, which could simulate the real vehicle and its appearance, outside and inside. In the latter case, we always use the highest standards for the interior fittings, following a constant interaction with the Client to provide a tailor-made service for all his needs.
