GFG Rail developed the complete interior design for Trenitalia’s new Hitachi ETR 1000 Frecciarossa. This state-of-the-art high-speed train continues Hitachi’s legacy as Europe’s most iconic high-speed train. Designed to set a new benchmark in sophistication, sustainability, comfort, and speed, the ETR 1000 aims to continue to be best in class.

GFG Rail reimagined the seating across all four classes – Standard, Premium, Business, and Executive – enhancing ergonomics and redesigning seat foams for greater comfort. Executive Class received a full overhaul, featuring entirely new seats equipped with upgraded amenities like an innovative table and a tablet holder. Additionally, all luggage racks were redesigned to optimize storage space.

The bistrot area has been transformed into a modern yet elegant and welcoming space, offering an improved environment to enjoy food and beverages. In the restrooms, updated graphics and practical additions, such as a baby holder seat, further enhance the passenger experience.

Throughout the project, GFG Rail developed seat mock-ups for ergonomic and design testing, culminating in prototypes showcased on the ETR 1000 at InnoTrans 2024.
